About this Speaker

Mike brings 28 years of experience with the IRS in a variety of capacities from specialist to executive level. During his last 11 years with the IRS, Mike was an IRS territory manager with responsibilities for up to twenty-three states with an emphasis in business valuation and specialist issues nationally. During his tenure with the IRS, Mike championed the IRS internal teams on reasonable compensation, valuing subchapter S corporations, 409A, 6695(A), Discount for Lack of Marketability and others.

Today Mike helps clients prepare expert reports to avoid an audit and helps clients during audits as an advisor. Mike is a Certified Valuation Analyst with the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA), an Accredited Senior Appraiser with the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), and a Qualified Mediator with the Minnesota Supreme Court. Mike founded Michael Gregory Consulting, LLC, a firm that focuses on risk management issues with the Internal Revenue Service on valuation and other issues, alternative dispute resolution approaches to resolving issues, and other value-added services such as reviews of expert witness reports and negotiations.

Mike has served on the ASA Business Valuation Committee, the NACVA Valuation Credential Board and currently serves as the Chair of the NACVA Ethics and Oversight Board. He also serves on the Minnesota State Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Section Board of Directors. He has served on over a dozen boards in various roles.

Mike has a BS from Valparaiso University, a MS from the University of Wisconsin Madison, and an MBA from DePaul University. Mike has written twelve books and over thirty-five articles. His most recent book, Business Valuations and the IRS: Five Books in One is the most comprehensive and up to date book on the topic with 38 examples, over 180 practical pointers.
